Report of Officers

Principal – Davita Solter

·   Juvenile Diabetes Fundraising – over $1,500 raised; 120 PUSD students affected by Juvenile Diabetes.

·   Cancer awareness is February 29, 2008; wear purple that day.

·   Thanks to Knowledge Points who awarded $25 to the PTSO for a service award.

·   District Awards – the Pride of Peoria and the Ramon S. Kellis Award.  See the District Website for criteria and to submit and letter of recommendation for these awards.  Frontier is submitting the following faculty members for the awards:  Neil Fleming, Shari Fleming, Holly Urbancic, Ann Ball, Missy Carroll, Dinah Walter and Anne Babina. 

·   This years goal review is Reading and recently each Frontier Student was awarded Frontier Wildcat dog tags.

·   Three Frontier students performed in the honors band.  Way to Go!

·   The Boys Basketball was the District Champion Runner-up!  The Girls Softball Team had a very great and rewarding season!  Great Job Wildcats!

·   The Frontier Choir performed at the Theater Festival and did a great job. 

·   Volunteer Recognition will be held on Tuesday April 1, 2008 at 3:15 in the Library.  The PTSO meeting will follow.

Guest Speaker – Katrina Eaton with the United Blood Services:

·   The Blood Drive will be held on Thursday, February 14, 2008 from 8am through 1pm.  Please call Tracy Parr (602-622-7029) for an appointment. 

·   Basic Requirements for Blood Donation include: 17 years old or older and at least 110 pounds.

·   The Blood is used for platelets, plasma and blood.

·   You are able to donate every 42 days and the donation will consist of 15 minutes of questions and a physical and then the blood donation draw.  Right now they are offering free cholesterol testing. 

Chairperson – Suzanne Bergen:

·   Two door mats were purchased for the school.  Eleven doormats total are needed. 

Treasurer – Katie Fuller: 

·   The Box Top collection earned approximately $1,800.

·   The PTSO budget has approximately $3,000 to $4,000 in available funds after all budgeted items are spent.

Volunteer Coordinators – Jodi Nearing and Kati Jimenez:

·   We are in a great need for volunteers for the Spring Carnival!  This year the Carnival will be held on Saturday March 1st, 2008.

·   Donations for the Spring Carnival are being sought (cake walk donations, PTSO basket donations and gently read book donations).

School Liaison – Christine Fisher: 

·   The January Faculty luncheon was great.  Preparing for the February 20, 2008 ‘Salad Bar’ luncheon. 

·   March 19, 2008 is the next scheduled luncheon and will be a Taco Bar.

Meeting Coordinator – Stephanie Henzi:

·   January 9, 2007 meeting minutes were approved with no objection.

Communications Coordinator – Lori Wall: 

·   The newsletter will be distributed on Wednesday.

·   Most PTSO flyers will be distributed using the same format as the WCT (only one per family or as requested by individual families).

·   The PTSO will have a Basket for the Spring Carnival.  Any donations will be accepted.

Committee Reports

Wildcat Tails:

·   We are in need for someone to take over the WCT for the 2008-2009 school year.

·   There is a need for WCT reporters to write a report about any Frontier activity that you attend.  Send pictures, a sentence or two, a paragraph, anything! 

Guys Night Out:

·   A night out with the guys to a Phoenix Coyotes hockey game.

·   Saturday March 15 at the 7:00 game.  Tickets are $20 per person and include a hot dog, soda and a Phoenix Coyote hat.

·   Sign up flyers have been sent home.

Wildcat Family Fun Night (Suzanne Bergen):

·   The next Family Fun Night is at NYPD Pizza on Wednesday, February 13, 2008.  It will be held all day and Frontier will receive 20% in sales for all who bring in the flyer (sent home with students). 

·   We are in need for a volunteer to take this over and plan Wildcat Family Fun Nights.

Eight Grade Promotion:

·   A HS curriculum/tour will be held.  The promotion will be held at the High School and the Dance will be held at Frontier. 

·   The Eight Grade Promotion Dance planning is in the works and a surprise!

Frontier Carnival (Suzanne Bergen):

·   Will be held on Saturday March 1st from 11am – 3pm. 

·   Planning is in the works.  A new gaming truck will be at the carnival this year. 

·   A request for $100 was made by Suzanne Bergen to pay for maintenance to work on Carnival Day.  Approved with no objections.

New Business

Fund Request Review (Katie Fuller):

·   None.

Monthly Faculty Appreciation:

·   This month’s theme is ‘salad bar’ and is planned for February 20, 2008.

·   Dates for the rest of the year include:  March 19th, April 16th and May 14th.  Themes to be determined.
