Report of
Officers
Principal –
Davita Solter
·
On
October 19, the entire student body at Frontier gathered outside to watch
the Sunrise Mountain High School Homecoming parade. After, all of the
students met for an assembly in which they were told that Frontier is now an
EXCELLING SCHOOL!!! Each student received a ‘power band’.
·
The PEEF Dinner raised over $4000 in the silent auction. Seven more
Frontier staff receive grants (10 total now).
·
Frontier’s Finest assemblies will be held once a month. At the last
meeting, there were Staff Recognition awards and it was a huge success.
Don’t forget to vote for the staff you would like recognized next month.
·
Soda Pop tab collection will continue through December 14. If the school
reaches 1 million collected, one student will be able to throw a pie in Mrs.
Solter’s face.
·
Tax credit forms are now available in the front office,
·
Since there has been cases of MRSA at Frontier and it is the start of the
cold/flu season, once per week, on Fridays, the classrooms will be
disinfected.
·
The Frontier School band will be playing at the City of Peoria Veteran’s
Memorial service on November 10.
·
This year, the penny drive will be held around Thanksgiving and the food
drive will be held December 10-14.
Guest Speaker –
Ms. Bambina:
·
Frontiers 2006/2007 goal was writing and the 2007/2008 Academic Goal is
reading. Reading was chosen because it impacts every other subject.
·
Frontier is now an excelling school (which is based off of 230 criteria and
three years of data).
Chairperson –
Suzanne Bergen:
·
The PTSO will start selling long sleeved t-shirts. They are the same color
and picture as the short-sleeved, and also say ‘Proud to be Excelling’.
Order forms will be sent home with students. The price of the new
long-sleeved t-shirts are $13.00.
·
The Phoenix Children’s Hospital Holiday Cards will be sold at the book
fair. Frontier student, Kelly Minor, has created one of the cards. The
cost is $15 for 15 cards. They will be on sale in the front office and also
at the book fair.
Treasurer –
Katie Fuller:

School Tax Credit/Donation forms are now on the website.
·
The PTSO taxes are complete. If you would like to review
Volunteer
Coordinators – Jodi Nearing and Kati Jimenez:
·
There is a need for the Read Naturally program volunteers. There is a
training needed and then a weekly commitment (of as much or as little time
as you want) is needed.
·
There is a big need for Book Fair and Carnival volunteers!!! Please contact
the volunteer coordinators through the PTSO website to volunteer!
·
We
will also need volunteers for the December 7 Holiday Movie Night.
School Liaison –
Christine Fisher:
·
The PTSO, along with volunteers, will be giving the Frontier Faculty, an
appreciation treat monthly. There will be monthly themes to which items
will be donated. November 21 will be the second month and will have a theme
of pumpkins. This will coincide with the faculty compiling their wish lists
for the Book Fair.
·
A
teacher wish list/interest will be posted on the website to guide anyone who
wishes to purchase a teacher a gift for the holidays.
Meeting

October 10, 2007 meeting minutes were approved with no objection.
Communications

Committee Report
Wildcat Tails
(Christine Fischer):
·
November deadline is Nov 26.
·
There is a need for WCT reporters to write a report about any Frontier
activity that you attend. Send pictures, a sentence or two, a paragraph,
anything!
Fall Fundraiser
(Suzanne Bergen):
·
This year’s fundraiser totaled 30,800; Frontier keeps $15,700. ˝ of the
profits go to the school and ˝ goes to the PTSO. Delivery will be the
second or third week in November.
·
The top two sellers will get a $50 Westcor gift card and the top two selling
classes will get a pizza and ice cream party.
Mother/Son
Bowling (Lori Wall & Jodi Nearing):
·
Bowling days are November 3 & 10 from 2:00 – 4:30 pm.
·
The first bowling date was a huge success!
Book Fair (Jodi
Nearing):
·
The ‘Chill Out With A Good Book’ Book Fair will be held 11/26/07-11/30/07.
Family nights are Tuesday and Wednesday November 27 and 28, 2007 from
3:30-7:30pm.
·
There is a need for volunteers for this event.
Campbell’s
Labels/BoxTops (Suzanne Bergen):
·
The first contest of the year surpassed the entire totals from last year.
There is over $1,500 in box top dollars and over 6,500 Campbells points.
·
Mrs. Cunningham’s classroom won the party as the top collector and Ms.
Jarmain won a $25 for classroom materials.
Ladies Only
Event (Anna Maria Tofani):
·
The event is held at Theater Works for a production of ‘A Charlie Brown
Christmas’. This event will be held on December 1st and 2nd
which includes the show and a social hour.
·
There are now 4 shows and the play will be interactive with the girls.
Holiday Movie
Night (Suzanne Bergen):
·
Will be held Friday December 7, 2007 from 5:00 – 8:30 pm. There will be
food and drinks (for purchase) and a free showing of ‘Polar Express’.
Wildcat Family
Fun Night (Suzanne Bergen):
·
The first one will be held on Thursday November 29, 2007 from 3-9pm. There
are two choices this night: Sardellas and ChuckECheese. 20% goes back to
Frontier. A flier will be sent home with students.
·
A
Borders or Barnes and Noble night is possibly being planned for December.
Pizza and a
Project Night (Mari Landreth and Rhonda Zieba):
·
The first one will be held on January 24, 2008 with projects donated from
Lowes and Home Depot.
